قبله ḳibla A s. m. 1. Any thing opposite. 2. That part to which people turn their face when at prayer; (hence, the word means) Mecca, an altar, temple; (and, by way of respectful address) Worship! Father! &c. قبلهٴحاجات ḳibla-i-ḥājāt, What is looked to for the attain- ment of necessities or desires. قبلهٴعالم ḳibla-e-āﻌlam, The ḳibla of the world, his Majesty, your Majesty! قبله کونين ḳibla-e-kaunain, The ḳibla of both worlds, applied to a father. قبله گاه ḳibla-gāh, The place turned to when at prayer, generally means a father or one beloved. قبله نما ḳibla-numā (lit. shewing the ḳibla or di- rection of Mecca) A marinerʼs compass, an in- strument to ascertain the direction of Mecca.

قزل باشي ḳazal-bāshī T (comp. of t. قزل ḳizil, Red, and باش The head) s. m. A kind of Mug̠ẖal soldier. The ḳazal-bāshīs are consi- dered to be the descendants of the captives given to Shaikh Haidar by Tamerlane. They wore the red caps assumed by those captives as a mark of distinction, and are considered as the best troops of the Persian armies.

قطع ḳat̤ﻌ A s. f. Shape, form, cut (of a coat, &c.), cutting, section, intersection, breaking off, intercepting or passing (a road, country, &c.). قطع طريق ḳat̤-iﻌ-t̤ārīḳ, Highway-robbery, or the passing a way. قطع راه ḳat̤-iﻌ-rāh, Getting over a journey. قطع کرنا ḳat̤ﻌ karnā, To cut, cut out, cut or break off, carve, to perform or pass (a journey or way). قطع هونا ḳat̤ﻌ honā, To be cut or cut off; to be performed or passed (a journey or way). قطع نظر ḳat̤-iﻌ-naz̤ar, Turning away the eyes, averting the regard or attention (from), leaving off attending to or considering, abstraction.

قالب ḳālib A (part. act. of قلب) s. m. 1. A mould, model, form. 2. Bust, figure. 3. The body.

قابله ḳābila A s. f. A midwife.

قدوس ḳuddūs A (from قدس) adj. Pure, holy.

قرناٴي ḳarnāʼī A or ḳarnāʼe (Chald. from قرن Heb. and Chald. To be horned, to radiate) s. f. A trumpet, a horn (musical), a bugle, a clarion, cornet.

قصاٴي ḳaṣāʼi A. (for قصاب) 1. s. m. A butcher. 2. adj. Cruel, hardhearted.

قـﮩوه ḳahwa A s. m. Coffee. قـﮩوه دان ḳahwa-dān, A coffee-pot.

قدغن ḳadag̠ẖan P s. f. Injunction, prohibition. قدغن کرنا ḳadag̠ẖan karnā, To enjoin, to prohibit.
