قانون ḳānūn G. (Gr. kanwn) s. m. 1. Rule, regula- tion, statute, canon, institute, system. 2. A dulcimer, or harp. قانونگو ḳānūn-go, s. m. An officer in each district, acquainted with its cus- toms, the nature of the tenures of the land, &c. قانونگوٴي ḳānūn-go-ī, s. f. The office of a ḳā- nūn-go, q. v.

قاطع ḳāt̤iﻌ A part. act. (of قطع) 1. Cutting, rescinding. 2. adj. Peremptory, decisive, ex- plicit. قاطع الطريق ḳāt̤iʼuﻌ-t̤-t̤arīḳ, A highway- man, a robber.

قالبي ḳālib-ī A. adj. Cast in a mould, made on a mould, moulded.

قايزي ḳāʼịz-ī A. s. f. A bridle used whilst cleaning a horse, a bit.

قابله ḳābila A s. f. A midwife.

قباحت ḳabāḥat A (from قبح) s. f. Villainy, de- formity, turpitude, dishonesty, baseness, base action, evil, ill, wrong, inconvenience.

قلمه ḳulma A s. m. Sausage, or any food stuffed into the intestines of animals, haggis, black pudding.

قاصد ḳāṣid A (part. act. of قصد) s. m. A courier, an express, a messenger, envoy, postman.

قـﮩقـﮩ‍ا ḳahḳahā A. s. m. Loud laughter, horse- laugh. قـﮩقـﮩ‍ا کرنا ḳahḳahā karnā, or قـﮩقـﮩ‍ه مارنا ḳahḳaha mārnā, To laugh heartily, to giggle.

قدير ḳadīr A adj. Powerful; an attribute of the Deity, Almighty.
