ژ zhe called زاي فارسي or زاي عجمي the fourteenth letter of the Persian alphabet, has no corre- sponding character in the Arabic or Sanskrit. Its sound is that of s in the English word plea- sure; or, of the French g or j in gens, jour: and, that sound is here denoted by zh. This letter is sometimes changed to ج as پجمرده pajmurda, for پژمرده pazhmurda.

ژاژ zhāzh P s. m. 1. Idle, trifling, or indecent speech. 2. A kind of thistle. ژاژخاي zhāzh- ḵẖāʼe, A trifler, one who speaks obscenely. ژاژخاٴي zhāzh-ḵẖā-ī, s. f. Trifling or obscene talk.

ژنده zhinda P s. m. A patched garment.

ژوليده zholīda P (part. pass. from ژوليدن) adj. Intricate, entangled. ژوليده مو zholīda mū, En- tangled hair.

ژيان zhiyān P adj. Formidable, rapacious, raging. شيرژيان sher-i-zhiyān, A fierce lion.
