ژ zhe called زاي فارسي or زاي عجمي the fourteenth letter of the Persian alphabet, has no corre- sponding character in the Arabic or Sanskrit. Its sound is that of s in the English word plea- sure; or, of the French g or j in gens, jour: and, that sound is here denoted by zh. This letter is sometimes changed to ج as پجمرده pajmurda, for پژمرده pazhmurda.
