قساوت ḳasāwat A (from قسا Heb. To be hard) s. f. Hardness of heart, grief, anguish, pain, chagrin.

قلم ḳalam A s. m. (by Hindūs s. f. Sans. कलम Gr. ka/lamos) 1. A reed. 2. A pen. 3. A mode of writing characters, handwriting. 4. s. f. Cuttings of trees, &c. for planting, a set, a slip. 5. A kind of firework. قلم انداز ḳalam- andāz, Throwing away the pen. قلم بند کرنا ḳalam band karnā, To take down, to write. قلم بندي ḳalam-band-ī, s. f. Writing. قلم لگانا ḳalam lagānā, To plant slips or cuttings.

قسم ḳism A s. f. 1. Kind, species, sort. 2. Part, division. ¶ ḳasam, s. f. An oath. قسم دلانا ḳasam dilānā, To administer an oath. قسم دينا ḳasam denā, To adjure. قسم کهـانا ḳasam khānā. To take an oath, to swear. ¶ ḳasm, s. Di- viding, parting.

قريب ḳarīb A (from قرب) adv. Near, neighbouring, nigh, almost, about, akin, relative.

قصف ḳaṣf A (Heb. To boil up, to foam, to rage) s. m. 1. The wind breaking, dashing to pieces (a ship). 2. Blowing with a loud noise (wind), thundering. ¶ ḳaṣif, adj. Weak, broken, split.

قفا ḳafā A s. f. The back of the head, occiput, nape of the neck; behind, after.

قسيس ḳissīs A s. m. A presbyter, a chief of the religious, a bishop.

قـﮩقـﮩ‍ه ḳahḳaha A s. m. Loud laughter, horse- laugh. قـﮩقـﮩ‍ا کرنا ḳahḳahā karnā, or قـﮩقـﮩ‍ه مارنا ḳahḳaha mārnā, To laugh heartily, to giggle.

قيلوله ḳailūla A (from قيل) s. m. Sleeping at midday, a midday nap.
