سما samā A (Heb. ) s. m. 1. The heavens, the sky, the firmament. 2. A canopy. 3. Altitude.

سنورنا saṅwarnā H v. n. To be dressed, prepared, or arranged, to be decorated, to suit, prosper.

سدن सदन sadan S s. m. A place, house, mansion.

سلح silaḥ A s. Arms: see سلاح silāh. سلح پوشي silaḥ-posh-ī, s. f. The wearing of armour. A. P. سلحخانه silaḥ-ḵẖāna, s. m. An arsenal, an armoury. A. P. سلحشور salaḥ-shor or silaḥ-shor (from سلاح Armour, and شور Exercise, habitude) adj. A champion, gladiator, horse-breaker.

سوبهاو sūbhāw S̱. (सुभाव i. e. सु Good, and भाव Nature, disposition) s. m. Good disposition, good nature. adj. Well-disposed. See also سبهاو subhāw and سوبهاو sobhaw.

سلگ salag S̱. (perhaps, from संलग्न) s. (dakh.) Friendship, familiarity.

ستوا satūʼā S̱. s. m. 1. See ستو sattū. 2. adj. (applied to a kind of ginger) Pulverable, free from threads or fibres. ستوا سنکرانت satūʼā- sankrānt, The entering of the sun into Aries; on which day the meal of parched grain is dis- tributed to the Brāhmans.

سنگخواره sang-ḵẖẉāra P s. A kind of bird, a smallish bird of a dark colour, called in Arabic قطاة ḳat̤āt (?).

سرهانا sir-hānā S̱. s. m. The head part or side of any thing (as, of a tomb or bedstead), the place where the head rests or reclines.

سبع sabﻌ A (Heb. ) adj. Seven. سبع سياره sabʼāﻌ saiyāra, The seven planets. ¶ subﻌ, A seventh part.
