رات rāt रात्रि S̱. s. f. Night. رات تهوڙي اورسانگ بـﮩت rāt thoṛī aur sāng bahut, is applied to express a hurry of business with little time to perform it in; also great expense with a small income. Mīr says:-- بن جو کچهـ بن سکي جواني مين رات تهوڙي هي اوربـﮩت هي سانگ Ban jo kuchh ban sake jawānī meṇ; rāt thoṛī hai aur bahut hai sāng, Acquire whatever you can in the season of youth: the task is arduous and the time short. (Ars longa vita brevis. Hippoc.). آدهي رات ādhī rāt, Midnight. راتون رات rātoṅ rāt, In the middle of the night.

رافضي rāfiẓī A (part. act. of رفض To reject) s. m. A heretick, particularly a شيعه shīʼaﻌ, q. v.

ريگهاري reghārī S̱. (from रेखा or लेखा r. रिख or लिख Go), s. f. A furrow.

رکهک rakhak S̱. s. m. See رچهک rachchh̤ak.

رجم rajm A s. m. 1. Detestation, repulse, de- jection. 2. (Heb. ) Stoning to death.

رينڐي renḍī एरण्ड S̱. s. f. Palma christi (Ricinus vulgaris). رينڐي کا تيل renḍī kā tel, s. m. Castor-oil.

ريوتي रेवती rewatī S s. f. 1. The twenty-se- venth mansion of the moon, consisting of z Piscium and thirty one other stars. 2. n. prop. The name of Balarāmaʼs wife.

رسوت rasaut H s. f. A kind of collyrium, ex- tracted from the root of the Amomum anthorhizum: Roxb.

رزاقي razzāḳ-ī A. (from رزق) s. f. An attribute of the deity, providing daily bread.

رند rind P s. m. A reprobate, a drunkard, a debauchee, a rake, a libertine, a profligate, a blackguard. (Pers. plur. رندان).
