خوني ḵẖūn-ī P s. m. f. Murderer. adj. Sangui- nary, bloody, relating to murder or blood.

خجالت ḵẖijālat A s. f. Bashfulness, shame.

خاکشي ḵẖākshī P s. f. 1. A small weight used by goldsmiths (seed of Abrus precatorius). 2. A red bramble. 3. A small red seed used in medicine.

خله ḵẖala P s. A long pole with which they im- pel a boat, perhaps a rudder, trifles, idle talk, any thing which penetrates or goes down in a place, as a needle, &c., a wind causing sharp pain in the belly, a pain that comes suddenly in the side and joints, any thing that passes away by degrees or slowly, a written document signed by a judge.

خوباني ḵẖūbānī P s. f. An apricot, or a dried apricot with the kernel of an almond inserted.

خلوت ḵẖalwat A (from خلا) s. f. 1. Retirement, solitude, privacy, a closet, private apartment, private conference. خلوت خانه ḵẖalwat-ḵẖāna, s. m. A place of retirement, private apartment, closet, cabinet. خلوت کرنا ḵẖalwat karnā, To closet or be closeted. خلوتگاه ḵẖalwat-gāh, s. f. A place of retirement. خلوت گزين ḵẖalwat- guzīn, adj. Recluse; (met.) A hermit. خلوت نشين ḵẖalwat-nishīn, adj. Retired: (met.) A hermit. خلوت وجلوت مين ḵẖalwat o jalwat meṅ, In private and in publick.

خنگ ḵẖing P 1. adj. White. 2. s. m. A white, greyish or cream-coloured horse, a steed.

خورم ḵẖụrram P adj. See خرم ḵẖurram.

خاص ḵẖāṣṣ A (vulg. ḵẖāṣ, from خصّ Heb. To cut, to divide, to appropriate) adj. 1. Ex- cellent, noble, pure, unmixed. 2. Particular, private, what is kept for the kingʼs (or the mas- terʼs) private use, own, proper, peculiar, single, gentle. 3. adv. Especially, peculiarly. خاص بردار ḵẖāṣṣ-bardār, s. m. A servant who, in a great manʼs retinue, carries a firelock. خاص خواص ḵẖāṣṣ-ḵẖaẉāṣṣ, A royal female servant. خاصدان ḵẖāṣṣ-dān, A kind of canteen to carry water-vessels in. خاص محل ḵẖāṣṣ-maḥal, s. m. Private apartment, the apartments of married women (in opposition to ḵẖụrd-maḥal); met. First married wife. خاص وعام ḵẖāṣṣ o āﻌmm, Noble and plebeian.

خورده ḵẖụrda P (contracted خورد ḵẖụrd) part. pass. (of خوردن) 1. Eaten, taken, having eaten or taken. 2. (adjectively) Afflicted. 3. s. m. A blemish. خورده بين ḵẖụrda-bīn, s. m. A caviller, a criticiser. خورده پکڙنا ḵẖụrda pakaṛr- nā, To criticise. خورده فروش ḵẖụrda-farosh, s. m. A retailer, a huckster. خورده فروشي کرنا ḵẖụrda-farosh-ī karnā, To retail. خورده کرنا ḵẖụrda karnā, To change money. خورده گير ḵẖụrda-gīr, A criticiser, caviller.
