حوزه ḥauza A (Heb. from حاز Heb. To collect, to accumulate, to possess) s. m. A tract, side, part, middle.

حال ḥāl A (from حال Heb. Turned, passed, changed) s. m. 1. State, condition, case. 2. Business, affair, matter, circumstance. 3. Pre- sent time, the present. 4. Ecstacy. (Plur. احوال aḥwāl). حال آنا ḥāl ānā, To be in- spired, to be thrown into ecstacies. حال انکه ḥāl ānki, adv. Whereas, now that, since, though, yet, however, even, although, notwith- standing. حال پرسي ḥāl-purs-ī, s. f. حالي ḥāl-ī A adj. 1. Modern, new. 2. adv. Present, now, soon. 3. Current (coin).

حصن ḥiṣn A (Heb. The arm, by which a thing is protected) s. m. A castle, fortification. حصن حصين ḥiṣn-i-ḥaṣīn, 1. An impregnable fortress. 2. The title of a book of Musalmān traditions.

حلاله ḥalāla A s. f. A woman married again with her first divorcer after she had been di- vorced by her second husband.

حرير ḥarīr A (from حرّ) s. m. Silk-cloth.

حسد ḥasad A s. f. m. Envy, malice, emulation, ambition. حسد پيشه ḥasad-pesha, adj. Envious.

حدت ḥiddat A s. f. 1. The edge of a sword. 2. Keenness, acuteness, acrimony, passion, ve- hemence, impetuosity, poignancy, virulence.

حجت ḥujjat A s. f. 1. An argument, proof, reason. 2. Altercation, disputation.
