پرسورام parsūrām परशुराम S̱. n. prop. The sixth Avatār, descent upon earth or incarna- tion of Vish̤ṇu. This personage was the son of Jamadagni. He is, from his father, called Jāmadagni: and, the deity descended in this form to destroy the Kshatriyas (or Chh̤atrīs) who were become tyrannical. Renukā, wife of Jamadagni, was interrupted in bringing water from the river by Kārtavīrjārjuna, a prince of the Kshatriyas, who was sporting in the water with his thousand wives; for which Parasu- rāmaʼs father, Jamadagni, cursed him. The Kshatriya prince killed Jamadagni; and Jāma- dagni vowed not to leave a Kshatriya on the face of the earth. He is reported to have ex- tirpated them twenty one times; the women with child each time producing a new race: and, they say that there have been no Ksha- triyas since; those so called being of spurious breed, or Varṇasankars.

پو pau H s. f. 1. The one or ace on dice. 2. A stand where water is provided for passengers. پوپهٿنا pau phaṭnā, To dawn (the morning).

پوڙهنا pauṛhnā H v. n. To repose, to lie down, to rest.

پلاس palās P s. m. Very coarse canvas.

پيبيانا pībiyānā S̱. (from پيب) v. n. To suppu- rate.

پهـﮩرانا phahrānā स्फुरण S̱. v. n. To fly (as, a flag in the air), to flutter.

پتي pattī S̱. (from पत्र) s. f. 1. A leaf. 2. Hemp, of which an intoxicating potion is made. See بهانگ bhāng.

پونڐا paunḍā S̱. (पुण्ड़ or पौण्ड़) s. m. A kind of sugar cane.

پرسن प्रसन्न parsan S or prasanna, adj. 1. Re- joiced, pleased. 2. Gracious, kind. پرسن هونا prasanna honā, To acquiesce. پرسن کرنا pra- sanna karnā, To be pleased with, to like.
