قاهر ḳāhir A adj. m. (part. act. of قـﮩر) Vic- torious, subduing, tri- umphing. القاهره al-ḳāhira, Cairo in Egypt.

قبولي ḳabūl-ī A. s. f. A kind of food, rice and pulse boiled together.

قورمه ḳorma U s. m. A kind of dish.

قسمت ḳismat A s. f. (dakh. s. m.) 1. Fate, for- tune, lot. 2. Share, distribution, portion, division.

قبر ḳabr A (Heb. ) s. f. A grave, a tomb. قبرکن ḳabr-kan, A grave-digger. قبر گاه ḳabr- gāh, s. f. A burying ground. قبرستان ḳabr- istān, s. f. A burying ground. A. قبس 1. ḳabs, s. m. Lighting or getting fire from another, striking or asking fire. 2. Learning, teaching. 3. ¶ ḳabas, A firebrand, a match, any thing for kindling fire with. 4. ¶ kabis (perhaps for قبص ḳabiṣ) adj. Quick, expeditious.

قايمه ḳāʼịma A (fem. of قايم) 1. adj. Erect, per- pendicular. 2. s. m. A perpendicular line. 3. A right angle.

قلوب ḳulūb A s. plur. (of قلب) Hearts, &c.

قطمير ḳit̤mīr A s. m. 1. The thin pellicle on a date stone. 2. Name of the dog which ac- companied the seven sleepers. نقيروقطمير na- ḳīr o ḳit̤mīr, adv. Minutely, exactly, to the point.

قل ḳul A s. m. Reading of the sūra or chapter of the ḳurʼān, entitled ḳul huwa-l-lāh; which is done, by way of benediction, over fruits and sweetmeats presented to the guests, at the conclusion of the religious annual feasts, held in commemoration of ancestors and other relations. Hence, it comes to signify conclusion. قل هو چکا ḳul ho chukā, It is all over. قل هوالله پڙهنا ḳul huwa-l-lāh paṛhnā, To grumble (the bowels), to be hungry. (See under انتڙي).
