غ g̠ẖain called غين معجمه or غين منقوطه the nineteenth letter of the Arabic and twenty-second of the Persian alphabet, has no corre- sponding character in Sanskrit. It is one of the guttural letters; its sound being like that of the Northumberland r, or like a g uttered with compression deeply in the throat: and, it has

غلاف g̠ẖilāf A (from غلف Heb. To cover, to sheath) s. m. 1. A case, a cover, a sheath. 2. The prepuce.

غدر g̠ẖadr A s. m. 1. Perfidy, fraud, villainy, ingratitude. 2. Noise, bustle.

غوغا g̠ẖaug̠ẖā P s. m. Noise, disturbance, up- roar, clamour, alarm, brawl.

غرق g̠ẖarḳ A 1. s. m. Drowning, immersion, sinking. 2. adj. Drowned, immersed, sunk. غرق هونا g̠ẖarḳ honā, To be immersed, to be absorbed (in meditation, &c.), to drown. A. P. غرقاب g̠ẖarḳ-āb, Deep water, a whirlpool.

غچو g̠ẖachū H s. m. A hole made in the ground by boys, for playing at tipcat. غچوپاره g̠ẖachū-pāra, s. m. Name of a game, tipcat.

غيار g̠ẖiyār A s. m. Benefitting, providing goods for sale or use, a badge to distinguish soldiers or sectaries.

غاشيه g̠ẖāshiya A (from غشو) s. m. A saddle- cloth, a covering for a saddle.

غالبا g̠ẖālibaṉ A adv. Chiefly, principally, mostly, apparently, probably, most likely, upon the whole.

غايب g̠ẖāʼịb A (part. act. of غيب Heb. To be obscured or clouded) adj. 1. Absent, away, concealed, invisible, vanished. 2. (substantively) The third person (in gram.). غايب باز g̠ẖāʼịb- bāz, s. m. A conjurer. غاٴيب هونا g̠ẖāʼịb honā, To vanish, to disappear. A. P غايبانه g̠ẖāʼịb-āna, adj. In absence, invisibly.
