غزل g̠ẖazal A s. f. An ode, an amatory poem. (Plur. غزليات). غزل خوان g̠ẖazal-ḵẖẉān, A re- citer of odes. غزل خواني g̠ẖazal-ḵẖẉān-ī, s. f. The reciting of odes. غزل سرا g̠ẖazal-sarā, adj. Singing an ode. غزل سراي g̠ẖazal-sarā-ī, s. f. Singing of odes.

غول g̠ẖūl A (vulg. g̠ẖol) s. m. 1. An imaginary sylvan demon of different shapes and colours, supposed to devour men and animals. (From this our European loup-garou, or man-wolf, seems to be borrowed). 2. (in Hindī) A corps, division, or main body of an army, a squadron, a crowd, gang. غول بياباني g̠ẖūl-i-bayābān-ī, A demon (inhabitant of the woods). غول کا غول g̠ẖol kā g̠ẖol, Crowd upon crowd.

غفار g̠ẖaffār A adj. (superl. of غفر) Forgiving, forgiver (the deity).

غپچپ g̠ẖap-chup H adj. (dakh.) Silent, mute.

غيرت g̠ẖairat A s. f. 1. Modesty, bashfulness, honour, courage. 2. Jealousy, enmity, emula- tion, a nice sense of honour. غيرت افزا g̠ẖairat- afzā, Increasing emulation or jealousy. غيرت کش g̠ẖairat-kash, adj. Enduring jealousy, jealous. غيرتمند g̠ẖairat-mand, Jealous, emu- lous, high-minded.

غضنفر g̠ẖaẓanfar A s. m. A lion, a powerful man, a hero.

غوث g̠ẖaus̤ A s. m. A title of Muhammadan saints, whose ardour of devotion, according to vulgar tradition, is such, that in the act of wor- ship their head and limbs fall asunder.

غلمان g̠ẖilmān A s. m. plur. (of غلام) Boys who attend the virtuous in paradise.

غراره g̠ẖarāra A (or prop. g̠ẖirāra) s. m. A large sack.
