رحم raḥm A (Heb. ) s. m. Mercy, compassion,

رسوا ruswā P 1. adj. Infamous, ignominious, dis- honoured, disgraced. 2. s. m. Opprobrium, disgrace. رسواي عالم ruswā-e-āﻌlam, Infamous throughout the world.

رعيت raʼaﻌiyat A (prop. raʼīﻌyat, from رعي Heb. ) s. f. A subject or the subjects, tenant. (Plur. رعايا). رعيت پرور raʼaﻌiyat-parwar, Protector of subjects. رعيت پروري raʼaﻌiyat- parwar-ī, s. f. Protection of subjects. رعيت نواز raʼaﻌiyat-nawāz, Cherisher of subjects.

رحمت raḥmat A s. f. Mercy, kindness. رحمة الله عليه raḥmatu-llāhi aﻌlaihi, The mercy of God (be) upon him.

رعونت ruʼūﻌnat A (from رعن) s. f. Pride, haugh- tiness.

رياٴي riyā-ī A. (from ريا q. v.) s. m. f. A hypo- crite, a sophist.

رجواڙا rajwāṛā राजवाटी S̱. s. m. A king- dom, a country under the controul of a rājā.

روان roʼāṅ रोम S̱. s. m. Hair of the body, down, wool. See روم rom.

رت rat S̱. s. f. Contract. of رات q. v. رت جگا rat-jagā (perhaps, for रात्रियज्ञ) Watching all night on religious occasions (a female cere- mony), vigil. رتوندها rat-aundhā, Blindness at night, Nyctalopia. رتوندهيا rataundhiyā, adj.
