رسکپور raskapūr : رسکپور raskapūr S̱. (रसकर्पूर i. e. रस Quick- silver, and कर्पूर Camphor, from its resem- blance to this drug) s. m. Corrosive sublimate, or a preparation of mercury similar to it, but perhaps milder; at least, if we may trust to the dose assigned by Eastern physicians, as stated in the Maḵẖzanu-l-adwiya, i. e. from 1 3/4 to 3 1/2 grains. To prepare it, quicksilver is triturated with red bole (see گيرو), marine salt, and a substance containing vitriolick acid. The Bhāva Prakāsa orders alum, the Maḵẖzanu-l-adwiya vitriol of zinc or copper; but the Sukha- bodha directs sulphur: and, in the last case, the mass is to be moistened with the juice of the bark of the amrā-tree (Spondias mangifera). It is then sublimed in close earthen vessels.
