جمعگي jumʼaﻌ-gī A s. f. The weekly allowance to schoolboys paid on a Friday; also, the present given on a Friday by schoolboys to their pre- ceptor.

جزم jazm A s. m. 1. Decision, determining, resol- ving. 2. Amputation. 3. The orthographical character jazm (/؟/) which is placed over a letter to show that it is quiescent or has no vowel following it. بالجزم bi-l-jazm, With decision, in earnest.

جوارا juwārā H s. m. Large maize.

جهوٿا jhūṭā S̱. (जुष्ट or उच्छिष्ट) adj. 1. Liar, false. 2. (among Hindūs) That which has touched food and is thereby defiled. 3. Offal, refuse, left (food); s. m. Leavings of food. جهوٿاجهاٿا jhūṭā jhāṭā, s. m. Offals, left food. جهوٿهاچاٿنا jhūṭhā chāṭnā, To eat leavings, to be very wretched. جهوٿهي نپوچهنا jhūṭhī na pūchhnā, To refuse even common civility.

جيـﮩڙ jehaṛ H s. f. 1. A pile of pots filled with water, and placed one over the other in order to be carried on the head. 2. A ceremony prepa- rative to marriage, in which pots filled with water are piled over one another, the whole is crowned with a bowl of sharbat, and the friends watch by it during the night.
