جهلکانا jhulkānā S̱. (s. ज्वलका Flame) v. a. To scorch, to singe (as, the small feathers of a pluck- ed fowl).

جڙانا jaṛānā S̱. (caus. of جڙنا for जटन) v. a. To cause to stud, to cause to set jewels.

جون javan S (यवन) s. m. A Greek, a Muhammadan or European invader of India. See s̱. يمن yaman.

جم jam S (यम) s. m. The regent of worlds below; or death, and judge of departed souls. جم دوت यमदूत jam-dūt, Messenger of Jam or of death. جم ديا jam-diyā (यमदीप) s. m. A candle or illumination sacred to Jam, lighted on the 13th of kārtik, kr̤ishṇ paksh̤, i. e. three days before the dewālī.

جاسوس jāsūs A (from جسّ Heb. and Ch. Felt, explored) s. m. A spy, an emissary.

جاجک jājak H s. m. A player on cymbals or on the tabour.

جاذب jāẕib A part. act. (from جذب) adj. 1. Alluring, attractive, absorbent. 2. Drawing (as, a plaster).

جتها jathā यूथ S̱. s. m. A company, band,

جيانا jiyānā S̱. (from جينا) v. a. To cause to live.
