جگ jug S (युग) s. m. 1. An age of the world or great period. (The ages are four, i. e. Satya or Kr̤ita, Tretā, Dwāpar and Kali). 2. A term used in the game of chausar (the opposite of a blot, two or more men standing on the same square). 3. A pair. جگ پهوڙنا يا پهوٿنا jug-

جڙن jaṛan जटन S̱. s. f. The act of setting jewels. H.S̱. جڙنا jaṛnā, v. a. 1. To strike, to shake off. 2. (for जटन) To join, to make adhere. 3. To stud, bestud, set jewels, fix, enchase.

جگت जगत् jagat S s. m. 1. The world. 2. A buttress. جگت اجاگر jagat-ujāgar, Enlight- ening the world. جگت دکهي जगद्दुःखी ja- gat-dukhī, A tyrant.

جواد jauwād A adj. (superl. of جود) Liberal, be- nificent, bountiful, very liberal.

جازم jāzam H. s. f. A cloth thrown over a carpet to sit on. See جاجم jājam.

جوگيا jogiyā H s. m. 1. Name of a colour. 2. f. The name of a rāginī or musical mode. 3. A kind of pigeon.
