جهاڙ jhāṛ H s. m. 1. Bushes, brambles, bush, shrub, brake, underwood. 2. A kind of fire- work. 3. A lustre or chandelier, the same as پنج شاخه panj-shāḵẖa, q. v. under پنجه. 4. A purge. 5. Continued rain, &c. see جهڙي jhaṛī. جهاڙباندهنا jhāṛ bāndhnā, To rain without ceasing. جهاڙ پـﮩ‍اڙ jhāṛ pahāṛ, Digression. جهاڙپهونک jhāṛ phūnk, s. f. Juggling, conjuring, hocus pocus (particularly, to cure the bite of a snake or a disease). جهاڙجهٿک jhāṛ jhaṭak, s. f. Sweeping. جهاڙجهنکهار jhāṛ jhankhār, s. m. Brambles, large dry bushes. جهاڙجهوڙ jhāṛ jhūṛ, s. f. 1. Sweepings; perquisites. 2. Thick- et. جهاڙکهنڐ jhāṛ-khanḍ, 1. adj. Bushy. 2. s. m. A forest, the forest of Baijnāth.

جـﮩر jahr A s. m. 1. Speaking loud enough to be heard by the company. 2. (or jihar) A fe- male oblation.

جهپانا jhapānā H v. n. To take a nap.

جيت jīt जित् S̱. s. f. Winning, victory.

جيتويا jītwaiyā S̱. (जितवन्तः) s. m. A winner.

جلنا jalnā ज्वलन S̱. v. n. To burn, to be burnt, to be kindled; met. to get into a passion, to be enraged, to rage. جل اٿهنا jal uṭhnā, To break out (as, fire). جل بجهنا jal bujhnā, To brand, to burn to ashes. جل پکنا jal paknā, To be in a passion, to rage. جلي پرنون لگانا jale par non lagānā (lit. to throw salt on one who is burned) To triumph over, to insult.

جاگتي جوت jāgtī-jot जायत्ज्योतिः S̱. adj. Possessed of or exerting miraculous power. S. جاگرن जागरण (r. जागृ Wake) jāgaraṇ, s. m. Vigil, waking, wakefulness (in a religious ceremony or prayer), vespers.

جتي jatī यति S̱. s. m. 1. A sage whose pas- sions are completely under subjection. 2. A re- ligious mendicant, especially one of the Jain sect.

جنڐول chanḍol H s. m. 1. (corrupt. of چنڐاول chanḍāwal) The rear-guard. 2. A sort of se- dan. 3. The name of a bird. 4. A plaything consisting of four little earthen pots joined together.

جهوکنا jhoknā H v. a. (dakh.) To throw, to cast.
