جهنڐا jhanḍā H s. m. A banner, a flag, an en- sign, a streamer.

جني janī S̱. s. f. 1. (from जन) A maid servant. 2. (जनी) Daughter-in-law.

جد jadd A s. m. 1. A grandfather; ancestor. (Plur. اجداد Ancestors). 2. Dignity, glory (of God), happiness, prosperity.

جيٿهـ jeṭh ज्येष्ठ S̱. s. m. 1. Husbandʼs elder brother. 2. Name of the second Hindū month (the full moon of which is near ज्येष्ठा) May- June. 3. adj. Elder, first-born.

جرانا jurānā H v. n. To be comforted or pacified.

جيبهـ jībh जिह्वा S̱. s. f. The tongue. جيبهـ بڙهانا jībh baṛhānā, 1. To be loquacious and abusive. 2. To pursue pleasures beyond oneʼs reach. جيبهـ پکڙنا jībh pakaṛnā, 1. To silence, to interrupt oneʼs discourse. 2. To criticise mi- nutely. جيبهـ جهکانا jībh jhukānā, To pretend to wealth falsely. جيبهـ چاٿنا jībh chāṭnā, To long after or covet unattainable enjoyment. جيبهـ چلانا jībh chalānā, To boast beyond oneʼs abi- lity. جيبهـ دابکي بات کـﮩنا jībh dābke bāt kahnā, To speak with reserve. جيبهـ کاٿنا jībh kāṭnā, 1. To forbid by signs. 2. (from the Persian) To grant the request of a petitioner. 3. To be struck with terrour or astonishment. جيبهـ نکالنا jībh nikālnā, To be extremely fatigued or thirsty.

جمع jamﻌ A s. f. A congregation, conjunction, collection, accumulation, assembly, amount, sum total, whole, plural number. جمعبندي jamﻌ- bandī, s. f. Accounts of the revenues, rental, settlement of the revenues. جمعدار jamﻌ-dār, s. m. 1. A native officer of the army so called. 2. The head of any body, as of guides, harkāras, &c. جمعداري jamﻌdār-ī, s. f. The business of a jamﻌ-dār. جمع کرنا jamﻌkarnā, To collect, amass, gather together, add together, assemble, heap. جمع وخرچ jamﻌ-o-ḵẖarch, s. m. Ac- count of receipt and disbursement, account cur- rent. جمع وخرچ کرنا jamﻌ-o-ḵẖarch karnā, To make up, or balance an account. جمع واصلباقي jamﻌ-wāṣil-bāḳī, An account stating payments periodically due, with the amount received and the arrears. جمع هونا jamﻌ honā, v. n. To be collected, to assemble, to flock.
