اجلاف ajlāf A s. plur. (of جلف jilf) Vile, ig- noble, unjust people.

اپسکن अपशकुन apa-sakun S s. m. Any un- lucky or inauspicious object or omen, a portent. S. اپسمار अपस्मार (from अप and r. स्मृ smr̤i, Recollect, remember) apa-smār, s. m. The epi- lepsy, falling sickness.

استشہاد istishʼhād A (inf. x. of شہد) s. m. Sum-

استیفا istīfā A (inf. x. of وفا) s. m. 1. Satisfying completely, paying or receiving the whole of what is due. 2. Renouncing, relinquishing.

آتش بار ātash-bār P adj. Flaming, fiery, raining fire. s. A firelock, a tinder-box.

آيت āyat A s. f. A sign, a mark; a verse or paragraph of the ḳurʼān contained between signs which serves as stops. آيت مطلق āyat-i-mut̤laḳ, A stop (in grammar) used in the ḳurʼān only, and equivalent nearly to a comma.
