لوکي laukī H s. f. A kind of pumpion. See لوکا laukā.

لحم laḥm A (Heb. ) 1. s. m. Flesh, meat. 2. Solder. 3. ¶ laḥim, adj. Carnivorous.

لزوم luzūm A s. m. Expediency, necessity, re- quisiteness, behoving.

لفاظي laffāz̤-ī A. s. f. Eloquence.

لوح lauḥ A (Heb. ) s. f. A plank, a table, a board (especially, on which any thing is written), a tablet. لوح محفوظ lauḥ-i-maḥfūz̤, The guarded table on which the destinies of mankind are written (according to the Muhammadans). لوح وقلم lauḥ-o-ḳalam, s. f. The tablet and pen on, and with, which the decrees of the deity are written.

لوطي lūt̤ī A s. m. An inhabitant of Sodom, so- domite, præposteræ veneri addictus.

لبي labī H s. f. The juice of the sugar-cane when boiling into sugar.

ليل lail A s. f. Night. ليل ونـﮩار lail-o-nahār, Day and night; a sort of wood (Qanoon-e-islam).

لتا lattā P. (prop. لته) s. m. A rag, tatter, scrap of cloth.
