قنات ḳanāt A s. f. The walls of a tent, or can- vass enclosure with which a sort of court yard is formed in camp, a screen.

قصوز ḳuṣūr A (from قصر) s. m. 1. Defect, fault, want, faultiness, deficiency, miss, omission, failure, failing, blame. قصور کرنا ḳuṣūr karnā, To fail, to be deficient. 2. plur. (of قصر) Palaces.

قرمساق ḳurram-sāḳ U A term of abuse, pimp, cuckold, scoundrel, &c.

قلتبان ḳaltabān P s. m. A pimp, wittol, scoun- drel, one who connives at his wifeʼs intercourse with other men.

قايم ḳāʼịm A (part. act. of قوم Heb. ) 1. adj. Standing, erect, perpendicular. 2. Firm, fixed, constant, stable, durable, lasting, continuing. 3. Attentive, persevering. قايم النار ḳāʼịmu-n-nār, Fixed quicksilver (i. e. fixed by fire). قايم مزاج ḳāʼịm-mizāj, Of a settled temper, constant. قايم مقام ḳāʼịm-maḳām, A viceroy, lieutenant, vicegerent, representative, locum tenens, deputy, successour, assignee.

قـﮩر ḳahr A s. m. Force, severity, chastisement, rage, fury, indignation, vengeance, judgment, calamity. قـﮩر قيامت ḳahr-ḳiyāmat, Great dis- turbance or commotion (is applied both in pane- gyrick and satire).

قينچي ḳainchī U s. f. 1. Scissors. 2. An oblique or St. Andrewʼs cross. قينچي کرنا ḳainchī kar- nā, To prune trees, or cut the hair. قينچي باندهنا ḳainchī bāndhnā, To bind or fasten an un- skilful rider on his horse. ک

قلمه ḳulma A s. m. Sausage, or any food stuffed into the intestines of animals, haggis, black pudding.

قلاچ ḳallāch T adj. 1. Shrewd, malicious. 2. Wretched, friendless, cun- ning. 3. Addicted to drinking, a drunkard.

قيدي ḳaid-ī A. s. m. A prisoner, captive.
