قمار ḳimār A (from قمر) s. m. Dice, or any game of hazard. قمار باز ḳimār-bāz, A gambler. قمار بازي ḳimār-bāz-ī, s. f. Gaming. قماري ḳimār-ī, s. m. A gambler.

قايل ḳāʼịl A part. act. (of قول) 1. Saying, sayer, assertor; confessing, confessor, consenting, agreeing, acknowledging, giving up a point, owning. 2. adj. Subdued, confuted. قايل کرنا ḳaʼịl karnā, To confute, to convince, to convict. قايل هونا ḳaʼịl honā, To acquiesce, acknowledge, confess, consent, assent, to own, yield. (Plur. قاٴيلين ḳāʼịlīn).

قضاق ḳaẓẓāḳ U s. m. Robber, brigand, free- booter.

قيتار ḳītār G. s. m. A guitar. (Gr. kiqa/ra).

قرةالعين ḳurratu-l-aﻌin A Coolness of eye, viz. cheerfulness, tranquillity.

قدرت ḳudrat A (from قدر) s. f. 1. Power, au- thority. 2. Omnipotence.

قاسم ḳāsim A part. act. (of قسم) 1. Dividing. 2. (sub.) A distributer. قاسم الارزاق ḳāsimu-l-arzāḳ, Distributer of daily bread, i. e. God.

قصر ḳaṣr A (from قصر Heb. and Ch. To cut, to abbreviate, to diminish) s. m. 1. Diminution, defect. 2. Evening twilight (q. d. defect of light). 3. An edifice, a palace, a building, an elegant villa.

قوقنوس ḳūḳnūs (ḳūḳnus, ḳuḳnus P or ḳuḳnūs,) s. m. The name of a bird, Phenix.

قيامت ḳiyāmat A s. f. 1. The general resurrec- tion, the last day. 2. (met.) Calamity, excess. 3. Excessively great, excessive, extremely. قيامت کرنا ḳiyāmat karnā, 1. To oppress. 2. To do any thing wonderful.
