قلاب ḳullāb A s. m. 1. A hook. 2. The hood put on a hawk to blind him. 3. Drawing and relaxing the string of a bow repeatedly before discharging the arrow.

قلبه ḳulba A s. m. A plough. قلبه راني ḳulba- rānī, s. f. Ploughing, driving the plough.

قشون ḳushūn T s. A large body of troops, an army.

قرباني ḳurbān-ī A. 1. adj. Devoted, sacrificed. 2. s. See قربان ḳurbān.

قرابت ḳarābat A (from قرب) s. f. Kin, vicinity, relationship, affinity, propinquity, alliance.

قرات ḳirʼat A (from قرأ Heb. To read) s. f. Pronunciation, reading.

قانت ḳānit A (part. act. of قنوت) adj. 1. Obe- dient to God, devout. 2. Silent.

قور ḳor A. (in Arab. ḳūr, analog. to Heb. A web, especially a spiderʼs, from قار Heb. To surround, to ensnare) s. f. 1. A new rope of fine cotton. 2. Edging, facing of a dress, ri- band, twist, tape. 3. A string or row (of ani- mals succeeding each other); train, retinue. قور خانه ḳor-ḵẖāna, An armoury, arsenal, a wardrobe.

قل ḳul A s. m. Reading of the sūra or chapter of the ḳurʼān, entitled ḳul huwa-l-lāh; which is done, by way of benediction, over fruits and sweetmeats presented to the guests, at the conclusion of the religious annual feasts, held in commemoration of ancestors and other relations. Hence, it comes to signify conclusion. قل هو چکا ḳul ho chukā, It is all over. قل هوالله پڙهنا ḳul huwa-l-lāh paṛhnā, To grumble (the bowels), to be hungry. (See under انتڙي).

قطعه ḳit̤ʼaﻌ A s. m. 1. A section, a cutting, a fragment, a division. 2. A strophe. قطعه بند ḳit̤ʼaﻌ-band, adj. A kind of verse, in which the meaning of the first verse of each stanza is com- pleted in the last. ¶ ḳat̤ʼﻌ or ḳut̤ʼaﻌ, A divi- sion, plot, parcel or portion of land, segment, portion; cut, shape.
