قيصوم ḳaiṣūm A s. m. Southernwood. (Artemi- sia abrotanum).

قراد ḳarrād A s. m. A monkey-keeper, or-trainer.

قزل باشي ḳazal-bāshī T (comp. of t. قزل ḳizil, Red, and باش The head) s. m. A kind of Mug̠ẖal soldier. The ḳazal-bāshīs are consi- dered to be the descendants of the captives given to Shaikh Haidar by Tamerlane. They wore the red caps assumed by those captives as a mark of distinction, and are considered as the best troops of the Persian armies.

قماري ḳamārī A s. plur. (of قمري) Turtledoves.

Lighting or getting fire from another, striking or asking fire. 2. Learning, teaching. 3. ¶ ḳabas, A firebrand, a match, any thing for kindling fire with. 4. ¶ kabis (perhaps for قبص ḳabiṣ) adj. Quick, expeditious.

قرنفل ḳaranful G. (Gr. karuo/fullon) s. m. A clove.

قاسم ḳāsim A part. act. (of قسم) 1. Dividing. 2. (sub.) A distributer. قاسم الارزاق ḳāsimu-l-arzāḳ, Distributer of daily bread, i. e. God.

قول ḳaul A (Heb. ) s. m. 1. A word, saying, assertion. 2. Agreement, promise, consent, contract, affirmation. 3. A kind of song. قول قرار ḳaul-ḳarār, s. m.
