قاصد ḳāṣid A (part. act. of قصد) s. m. A courier, an express, a messenger, envoy, postman.

قارون ḳārūn A n. prop. A person supposed to be the same as Korah, whom the Muhammadans describe as the cousin of Moses. (On account of his riches and avarice, his name is proverbially applied to all misers).

قصايد ḳaṣāʼịd A s. plur. of قصيده ḳaṣīda, q. v.

قلندرا ḳalandarā A. s. m. 1. A kind of silk cloth. 2. The fly of a tent.

قبيل ḳabīl A (from قبل) s. m. 1. Species, kind, sort. 2. Family, tribe, kindred, progeny.

قلندري ḳalandar-ī A. 1. s. f. A kind of tent (having a fly to it). 2. adj. Of the ḳalandar; s. f. The practice or life of a ḳalandar.

قيل ḳīl A (from قول Heb. ) s. m. A word, speech, saying. قيل وقال ḳīl-o-ḳāl, s. f. Con- versation, confabulation, controversy, altercation, babble, clack.

قبله ḳibla A s. m. 1. Any thing opposite. 2. That part to which people turn their face when at prayer; (hence, the word means) Mecca, an altar, temple; (and, by way of respectful address) Worship! Father! &c. قبلهٴحاجات ḳibla-i-ḥājāt, What is looked to for the attain- ment of necessities or desires. قبلهٴعالم ḳibla-e-āﻌlam, The ḳibla of the world, his Majesty, your Majesty! قبله کونين ḳibla-e-kaunain, The ḳibla of both worlds, applied to a father. قبله گاه ḳibla-gāh, The place turned to when at prayer, generally means a father or one beloved. قبله نما ḳibla-numā (lit. shewing the ḳibla or di- rection of Mecca) A marinerʼs compass, an in- strument to ascertain the direction of Mecca.

قرض ḳarẓ A s. m. A loan, debt, money bor- rowed at interest. قرض حسنه ḳarẓ-i-ḥasana, Money lent without interest, and repaid at the pleasure of the borrower. قرض خواه ḳarẓ-

قرباني ḳurbān-ī A. 1. adj. Devoted, sacrificed. 2. s. See قربان ḳurbān.
