فصيح faṣīḥ A (from فصح) adj. Eloquent, sweet (tongued). (Pers. plur. فصيحان).

فاني fānī A (part. act. of فنا) adj. Frail, transi- tory, inconstant, perishable. جـﮩ‍ان فاني jahān-i-fānī, This transitory world.

فکندني fikandan-ī P adj. To be thrown, fit to be thrown.

فتوت futūwat A (from فتا) s. f. Liberality, ge- nerosity.

فخريه faḵẖr-īya A s. m. Ostentation, boasting.

فاعل fāʼiﻌl A part. act. (of فعل) 1. Making, doing, operating. 2. (sub.) An agent. 3. The participle active. 4. The nominative. فاعل حقيقي fāʼiﻌl-i-ḥaḳīḳī, The true agent, God. فاعل مختار fāʼiﻌl-i-muḵẖtār, Master of oneʼs own ac- tions.

فتنه fitna A (from فتن To try to tempt) s. m. 1. Calamity, mischief. 2. Sedition, mutiny. 3. Perfidy. 4. Sin, evil, pest. 5. Temptation, seduction. فتنه انگيز fitna-angez, A fomenter of disturbances, an incendiary, a mischiefmaker, seditious, turbulent, insurgent, &c. فتنه انگيزي fitna-angez-ī, s. f. Causing disturbances, sedi- tiousness, mischievousness, &c. فتنه جو fitna- jo, Quarrelsome, seditious. فتنه ساز fitna-sāz, Mischiefmaking, mischiefmaker. فتنه سازي fitna-sāz-ī, s. f. The occasioning of disturbance or trouble. فتنه گر fitna-gar, A seditious per- son, a mischiefmaker.

فسق fisḳ A (Heb. To divaricate) s. m. Adul- tery, obscenity, impudence, iniquity, sin, im- piety, falsehood.

فسخ fasḵẖ A s. m. Violation (as, of an agree- ment), infraction, dissolving (a marriage), dis- location. فسخ کرنا fasḵẖ karnā, To break off (a purpose, &c.), to break (an agreement or pro- mise), to invalidate.

فرّاٿا farrāṭā S (see پهـرانا pharrānā, from r. स्फुर Start, throb) s. m. The sound of any thing rushing or fluttering in the air, a rush, a puff.
