فاقه fāḳa : فاقه fāḳa A (from فوق Heb. ) s. m. 1. Po- verty, necessity, want. 2. (Pers. and in Hindī) A fast, fasting (from want, not as a religious duty). فاقه کرنا fāḳa karnā, To fast. فاقه کش fāḳa-kash, One who fasts, a faster, famished. فاقه کشي fāḳa-kash-ī, s. f. Fasting, endurance of hunger. فاقه کهـينچنا fāḳa khainchnā, or فاقون مرنا fāḳoṅ marnā, v. n. To starve, to be famished, to die with hunger. فاقه مست fāḳa- mast, One who is starving but conceals his distress.

فاجره fājira A f. (part. act. of فجر) 1. sub. A fornicator, adulterer, adul- tress, sinner. 2. adj. Sinful, unchaste.

فروتن faro-tan P adj. Humble.

فانوس fānūs P s. f. A shade (to keep the wind from a candle), a lantern, a pharos, lighthouse. فانوس خيال fānūs-i-ḵẖiyāl, or فانوس خيالي fā- nūs-i-ḵẖiyāl-ī, A lantern which revolves by the smoke of the candle within, and has on the sides of it figures of various animals.
