صبر ṣabr A s. f. Patience, endurance. صبرکرنا ṣabr karnā, To wait, to have patience, to endure. ¶ ṣabir, A species of aloes.

صحره ṣaḥra A. for صحرا ṣaḥrā, q. v.

صلات ṣalāt A (from صلا Ch. and To pray) s. f. 1. Prayer, benediction. 2. The first chap- ter of the ḳurʼān.

صيادي ṣaiyād-ī A. s. f. Hunting, fowling, shooting, &c.

صيد ṣaid A s. f. Game, prey, animal pursued, fished for, &c. hunting, chase. صيد افگن ṣaid- afgan or صيد فگن ṣaid-figan, Killer of game. صيد افگني ṣaid-afgan-ī, Killing of game. صيد انداز يا باز ṣaid-andāz or -bāz, A sportsman. صيد بند ṣaid-band, A taker or binder of game. صيد بندي ṣaid-band-ī, s. f. صباغ ṣabbāg̠ẖ A (part. act. of صبغ Heb. To stain or paint) s. m. A dier, one whose business is to die.

صراف ṣarrāf A (adj. superl. from صرف) s. m. A banker, a moneychanger.

صم ṣumm A (from صمّ Ch. To contract, to ob- struct, to stop up) adj. Deaf. صمٌ بکم ṣummuṉ bukm, adj. Deaf and dumb.

صدمه ṣadma A (from صدم To impinge, to dash) s. m. A blow, a stroke of fortune, shock, adversity, accident, calamity, collision, an adventure.

صيف ṣaif A s. Summer.
