صلاح ṣalāḥ A (from صلح Heb. To prosper) 1. s. f. Peace, concord, treaty. 2. Rectitude, in- tegrity, goodness of state or condition, prosperity. 3. Advice, counsel. 4. adj. Advisable. صلاح کرني ṣalāḥ karnī, To consult, advise, to take counsel together.

صدف ṣadaf A s. f. A shell, a pearl, mother of pearl.

صايم ṣāʼịm A part. act. (of صوم Heb. To fast) 1. A faster. 2. (adjectively) Thirsty. صايم الدهر ṣāʼịmu-d-dahr, One who fasts always.

صم ṣumm A (from صمّ Ch. To contract, to ob- struct, to stop up) adj. Deaf. صمٌ بکم ṣummuṉ bukm, adj. Deaf and dumb.

صحاري ṣaḥārạ̄ A or ṣaḥārī, s. plur. (of صحرا) De- serts, plains.

صنعت ṣanʼﻌt A (from صنع) s. f. 1. Profession, trade, art, make, workmanship, manufacture, fabrication, work of art, machine, engine. 2. Mystery, miracle. صنعت گر ṣanʼaﻌt-gar, An ar- tist. صنعت گري ṣanʼaﻌt-gar-ī, s. f. Art, per- formance of miracles.

صنوبر ṣanaubar A s. m. Fir, pine, any cone- bearing tree.

صداع ṣudāﻌ A (from صدع To split) s. m. Vertigo, megrim, headach.

صريحًا ṣarīḥaṉ A adv. Clearly, openly, evidently, plainly.

صورت ṣūrat A (from ii. of صار Heb. and Aram. To form, to fashion) s. f. 1. Form, figure, shape, face, countenance, fashion, appearance, probability, portrait. 2. Manner. 3. Condi- tion, state, case, circumstance. درصورت dar ṣūrat, or درصورتيکه dar-ṣūrate-ki, In case, provided that. صورت آشنا ṣūrat-āshnā, An ac- quaintance. صورت آشناٴي ṣūrat-āshnā-ī, s. f. Acquaintance. صورت پذير ṣūrat-paẕīr, Assuming or receiving form. صورت پذيرهونا ṣūrat- paẕīr honā, To come to pass, to come into exis- tence. صورت حال ṣūrat-i-ḥāl, s. f. A state- ment, form or state of condition or case, written declaration. صورت حرام ṣūrat-ḥarām, Plau- sible, whose appearance promises much more than events will justify, specious, superficial, fair without and foul within. صورت گر ṣūrat- gar, Painter, sculptor, limner.
