شيرازه shīrāza P s. m. The stitching of the back of a book, sewing button holes. شيرازه بندي shīrāza-bandī, s. f. The binding of a book.

شپره shapara P (contract. of شب پره) s. A bat.

شبر shibr A s. m. A span, the distance from the end of the thumb to the tip of the little finger when the hand is expanded.

شمسي shams-ī A adj. Solar. شمسي قمري shams-ī ḳamar-ī, adj. (solar and lunar) 1. A perquisite taken by the officers of government, being the difference between the pay for a lunar and solar month. 2. A monthly period of three or four days, during which the female attendants in the womenʼs apartments have leave of absence.

شربت sharbat A (from شرب) s. m. 1. Sherbet, beverage, drink. 2. The dose of a medicine. شربت دار sharbat-dār, s. m. A servant who has the charge of the water, wine, &c. a butler.

شاهنشاهي shāhanshāh-ī P 1. s. f. Empire. 2. adj. Imperial.

شعار shiʼāﻌr A (from شعر Heb. ) s. m. 1. An under garment. 2. Mark, signal, sign. 3. Habit, custom, method, manner: (much used in compos. as) جادوشعار jādū-shiʼāﻌr, Magical.
