سمبت sambat S (संवत्) s. m. A year; an era. سمبت باندهنا sambat bāndhnā, To establish an era.

ستکهنا satkhanā S̱. (सप्त Seven, and खंड Part) adj. Of seven divisions or stories (a house, &c.). S̱. H. ستلڙا sat-laṛ-ā, adj. Sevenfold, of seven strings or rows (a chain of pearls, &c.). ستلڙي sat- laṛ-ī, s. f. A necklace of seven strings.

سلخ salaḵẖ A (prop. salḵẖ, from سلخ He skinned, took off) s. f. The end of the month, or the day of the new moon: the last day of such a month as has thirty days.

سالوس sālūs P s. m. Hypocrisy, trick, subter- fuge.

سونتنا sūntnā H v. a. 1. To strip leaves off vegetables. 2. To draw (a sword).

سنسکار संस्कार saṅskār S s. m. An essential and purificatory rite among the Hindūs; puri- fication, consecration.

سرکاري sar-kār-ī P 1. s. f. Superintendence. 2. adj. Belonging to the state, or to the govern- ment, or to the kingʼs court.

سنکارنا sankārnā संज्ञाकरण S̱. v. a. To beckon, nod, wink or make a signal, to hint.
