رانجهنا rānjhnā S̱. (रंजन) s. m. A sweet- heart: Leander, the lover of Hero (who is called in Hindī Hīr). H. S̱. راندپڙوس rānd-paṛos, s. m. Neighbourhood. P. H. راندنا rāndnā (Pers. راندن) v. a. To expel.

رام جني rāmjanī S̱. (रामाजनी i. e. रामा Pleasing, and जनी Woman) A Hindū dan- cing-girl, a prostitute.

ربيع الاول rabīʼuﻌ-ḷ-auwal A The third month, and ربيع الاخر rabīʼuﻌ-lʼāḵẖir or ربيع الثاني rabīʼuﻌ-s̤- s̤ānī, The fourth month of the Muhammadan year. The 9th and 12th days of the former are festivals.

رزق rizḳ A s. m. Food, wealth, a pension, al- lowance, support, subsistence, daily bread.

رجال rijāl A s. pl. (of رجل) Men. رجال الغيب rijālu-l-g̠ẖaib (by the Hindūs called योगिनी yoginī) s. m. An invisible being which moves in a circular orbit round the world: on the 1st, 9th, 16th, and 24th days of a lunar month, his station is in the east: on the 3d, 11th, 18th, and 26th, in the south-east: on the 5th, 13th, 20th, and 28th, in the south: on the 4th, 12th, 19th, and 27th, in the south-west: on the 6th, 14th, 21st, and 29th, in the west: on the 7th, 15th, and 22d, in the north-west: on the 2d, 10th, 17th, and 25th, in the north: and, on the 8th, 23d, and 30th, in the north-east. His influence on each day is especially exerted during nine ghaṛis, or three hours thirty six minutes, at the close of that tith or lunar day; and, in that interval, it is unfortunate to begin a journey towards the station of this being, or in such a direction as to place him on the right hand.
