خمس ḵẖams A (Heb. ) adj. Five.

خلف ḵẖalaf A s. m. 1. A successour, an heir, a favourite son, posterity, descendants. 2. (ad- jectively) Depraved, corrupted. خلف الصدق ḵẖalafu-ṣ-ṣidḳ, True or rightful heir. ¶ ḵẖulf, Breach of promise.

خداوند ḵẖudā-wand P s. m. Possessor, master, husband. خداوند نعمت ḵẖudāwand-i-niﻌmat, 1. (A form of address to superiours) Beneficent master or lord. 2. Rich, opulent.

خاگ ḵẖāg P s. An egg.

خيره ḵẖīra P adj. 1. Dark. 2. Wicked, ma- lignant, vain. 3. Stupified, dazzled.

خلاف ḵẖilāf A (from خلف) s. m. 1. Opposition, contrariety; in opposition, contrary to, against. 2. Falsehood. خلاف راٴي ḵẖilāf-i-rāʼe, Against (oneʼs) opinion, or will. خلاف شرع ḵẖilāf-i-sharﻌ, Illegal, unlawful. خلاف عقل ḵẖilāf-i-aﻌḳl, Contrary to reason. خلاف قياس ḵẖilāf-i-ḳiyās, Improbable, absurd, irregular, anomalous. خلاف قياسي ḵẖilāf-ḳiyās-ī, s. f. Improbability, irregularity, anomaly. خلاف مزاج ḵẖilāf-i-mi- zāj, Not agreeing with the habit of the body (medicine, &c.). خلاف وعده ḵẖilāf-waﻌda, Promisebreaker.

خندان ḵẖandān P part. Laughing, merry.

خزانه ḵẖizāna A (improper. ḵẖazāna, from خزن) s. m. 1. A treasury, magazine, granary, reposi- tory, reservoir. 2. Treasure. 3. The chamber of a gun. خزانه دار ḵẖazāna-dār, A musket with a chamber. خزانهٴعامره ḵẖazānaʼe āﻌmira, s. m. The royal treasury. (Plur. خزاين ḵẖa- zāʼịn).

خلوتي ḵẖalwat-ī A. One admitted into the private apartments; a confidant, an intimate friend: a hermit. خلوتي راگ ḵẖalwat-ī-rāg, s. m. Soft musick.

خواص ḵẖawāṣṣ A s. plur. (of خاصّ or خاصّه) 1. Attendants, domesticks. 2. Grandees, ministers of state, people of quality or distinct from the vulgar, gentry. 3. Properties, qualities, attri- butes. 4. A page or a female attendant on the great. 5. A favourite. خواص وعوام ḵẖawāṣṣ o aﻌwāmm, Nobles and plebeians.
