حيطه ḥīt̤a A s. m. A court, a place, an enclo- sure.

حليم ḥalīm A (from حلم) adj. Mild, affable, cle- ment, unassuming, tractable. 2. A kind of food dressed in the Muḥarram.

حفظ ḥifz̤ A s. m. 1. Memory. 2. Custody, keeping, guardianship, protection, preservation. حفظ مراتب ḥifz̤-i-marātib, Observing etiquette, attention to the rank, &c. of persons addressed.

حرامي ḥarām-ī A s. m. A robber, assassin, doer of what is forbidden or unlawful, rascal, cheat. حرامي پلا ḥarām-ī pillā, Bastard.

حنا ḥinnā A s. f. The tree with which the In- dians stain their hands and feet. (Lawsonia inermis). حنا بند ḥinnā-band, Having ḥinnā applied or being adorned with it.

حانث ḥānis̤ A (part. act. of حنث) s. m. A perjurer.

حباب ḥubāb A (or ḥabāb), s. m. A bubble. حباب اٿهنا ḥubāb uṭhnā, To bubble.

حضيض ḥaẓīẓ A (from حض) 1. adj. Low. 2. s. f. The lower extremity or surface of any thing. 3. The foot of a mountain. 4. (in astronomy) The lower apsis in an eccentrick orbit (opposed to اوج auj).

حرفت ḥirfat A s. f. 1. Trade, art, profession, craft. 2. Skill, inge- nuity, cleverness, cunning. 3. (dakh.) See مکر makr.

حيدر ḥaidar A s. m. 1. A lion. 2. A name of Aﻌlī, son in law of Muhammad. حيدري ḥai- dar-ī, s. One of the sect of Aﻌlī.
