حواري ḥawārī A (from حار Heb. and Ch. ) s. m. 1. Having a white skin. 2. A washerman, a fuller. 3. A friend, a companion. 4. An apostle, a disciple or apostle (of Jesus Christ), a friend, associate, companion (of Muhammad).

حزم ḥazm A s. The being resolved (upon a thing) and persevering (in it), firm resolution.

حسين ḥasīn A (from حسن) adj. Beautiful.

حظ ḥaz̤z̤ A s. m. 1. Pleasure, delight. 2. Fla- vour, taste. 3. Good fortune, felicity. (Plur. حظوظ). حظ نفساني ḥaz̤z̤-i-nafsānī, Sensual plea- sures.

حزين ḥazīn A (from حزن) adj. Sad, sorrowful, afflicted, melancholy, grieved.

حريره ḥarīra A (from حرّ) s. m. A kind of pap of milk and flour, caudle.

حسان ḥussān A or ḥassān, adj. Very good, most beautiful. ¶ ḥisān, plur. of حسان ḥussān, q. v.

حميد ḥamīd A m. (from حمد) adj. 1. Praised. 2. Laudable, glorious. اخلاق حميده aḵẖlāḳ-i-ḥamīda, Laudable quali- ties or manners. اوصاف حميده auṣāf-i-ḥamīda, Laudable qualifications.

حلقه ḥalḳa A s. m. 1. A ring, a circle, an as- sembly, a fraternity. 2. A kind of firework. 3. A knocker (of a door). حلقه بگوش ḥalḳa- ba-gosh, A slave, a servant: i. e. One who wears a ring in his ear, as a badge of servitude. حلقه بگوشي ḥalḳa ba-gosh-ī, s. f. Servitude, slavery. حلقه زن ḥalḳa-zan, Knocking (at a door).

حنظل ḥanz̤al A s. Coloquinteda or bitter apple, colocynth.
