چ che or chīm, called also jīm-i-fārsī or jīm-i-aﻌjamī, the seventh letter of the Persian alphabet, sounds like ch in the English word cheek. It does not occur in Arabic. If used to denote a number, according to the abjad, it stands for 3, like ج (jīm). The permutations of the letter چ are the following; into ژ as کاژ for کاچ Glass, a pine tree; into ز as پزشک pizishk for پچشک pichishk, A physician or apothecary; into ش as کاشي for کاچي Made of glass; into ج as کاج for کاچ; and, arabistically, into ص as صين for چين China. This letter corresponds to च in Sanskrit, and when aspirated, or with ه affixed, to छ.

چاليسوان chālīs-wāṅ चत्वारिंश S̱. adj. 1. Fortieth; (hence) 2. The fortieth day after childbirth, death of a relation, &c.

چوڙي chūṛī S̱. s. f. 1. (चूडामणि) Bangles or rings made of glass, &c. and worn on the wrist. See چوري chūrī, sign. 2. چوڙي دار chūṛī-dār, Drawers, or sleeves, made too long, so as to be crumpled into plaits. 2. (dakh.) See ريزه reza.

چهگني chhagunī S̱. (चूषणीय see چوسني) s. f. Childʼs coral.

چانٿنا chānṭnā H v. a. To press, to squeeze.

چداسي chudās-ī H f. adj. Desirous of copulating, lustful.

چونٿنا chūnṭnā H v. a. To gather (a flower), to claw, pinch.

چهٿا छटा chhaṭā S s. f. Splendour, brilliancy, lustre, refulgence, a glory.

چتا चिता chitā S s. f. A funeral pile.
