With the eye closed. چشم بيمار chashm- i-bīmār, s. m. An eye that looks half closed (from modesty, an epithet applied to beauty). چشم پوشي chashm-posh-ī, s. f. Turning away the eyes, affecting not to see or hear a petitioner, &c. connivance. چشم تر chashm-i-tar, s. m. Weeper. چشم تري chashm-tarī, s. f. Moist eyes, full eyes, weeping. چشم خانه chashm- ḵẖāna, The socket of the eye. چشم خون آلود chashm-i-ḵẖūn-ālūd, Fiery eyes, eyes filled with blood, murderous looks. چشم داشت chashm- dāsht, s. f, Hope, confidence. چشم زخم chashm- zaḵẖm, s. m. The look of an evil eye; a mis- fortune. چشم نماٴي chashm-numā-ī, s. f. Re- proof. چشم وچراغ chashm-o-chirāg̠ẖ, Dearly beloved.

چانپ chāmp H s. f. 1. The lock of a gun. 2. The stocks, the rack. چانپ چڙهانا chāmp chaṛhānā, 1. To cock a gun. 2. To punish or torment by squeezing the ear with the lock of a gun.

چڙيل chuṛail H s. f. 1. The ghost of a woman who died while pregnant. 2. A hag, a fury. 3. A dirty woman, slut, slattern. H. S̱. چڙيمار chiṛī-mār (چڙيا or چڙي A bird, and مار part. of مارنا To kill) s. m. A birdcatcher, a fowler.

چراغپا chirāg̠ẖ-pā P adj. Rearing (a horse).

چورنگ chaurang चतुरंग S̱. s. m. 1. A prac- tice of the sword exercise. 2. Cutting the four legs of an animal off at one blow. چورنگ کاٿنا chaurang kāṭnā, v. a. To cut off the four legs of an animal at one blow. چورنگ مارنا chau- rang mārnā, To lose the use of the limbs by illness.

چکونڙ chakoṅṛ S̱. or chakwaṅṛ, (चक्रमर्दक) s. m. A species of cassia (Cassia tora) esteemed a remedy for ringworms.

چهنوانا chinwānā H (causal of چهينا chhīnnā) v. a. To cause to snatch. ¶ chhanwānā (caus. of چهاننا) v. a. To cause to sift or strain.

چوک chauk H s. m. 1. A market. 2. A square of a city. 3. A court-yard. 4. A square place filled, at marriages and on other occasions of rejoicing, with sweetmeats, which after certain ceremonies are distributed. چوک بهرنا يا پورنا chauk-bharnā or -pūrnā, To fill a chauk or square with coloured meal, perfumes, sweet- meats, &c. on some occasion of rejoicing. چوک پٿا chauk-paṭṭā, A seat on which the people sit and eat in the chaukā.
