جليل jalīl A (from جلال) adj. Great, glorious, il- lustrious. جليل القدر jalīlu-l-ḳadr, adj. August, illustrious, glorious.

جوتکهي jotikh-ī S̱. (ज्यौतिषिक) s. m. An astrologer, an astronomer.

جهونک jhonk H s. f. 1. A shove or push in swinging. 2. The impulse of a squall or sudden blast of wind. جهونک دينا jhonk denā, 1. To set fire to (particularly, straw, &c.). 2. To throw dust, &c. 3. To throw away (the lives of men uselessly). جهونک کهانا jhonk khānā, To roll.

جامه jāma P s. m. A garment, robe, gown, vest. جامه خانه jāma-ḵẖāna, s. m. A wardrobe, a chest or sack for holding clothes. جامه داني jāma-dānī, s. f. Portmanteau. جامه زيب jā- ma-zeb, adj. Becoming oneʼs clothes. جامه وار jāma-wār, 1. adj. Fit to make clothes of, suffi- cient for a jāma. 2. s. m. A flowered sheet or shawl, a kind of chintz.

جهلمل jhilmil H (see جهرجهرا) s. m. 1. A kind of gauze. 2. A shutter, a venetian blind.

جلاب jullāb A s. m. A purge. (q. d. Drawing, from جلب Drew; and, in this sense, it is generally used in India: but, Golius says) A mixture of water and sirup (perfumed with rose- water, from Pers. گل A rose, and آب Water); hence, julap. S̱.H. جلا بلا jalā-balā, adj. 1. Fretful, passionate. 2. Scorched. See جل بل. S̱.H. جلا بهنا jalā-bhunā, adj. Passionate, hot-tem- pered. S̱.H. جلاپا jalāpā, s. m. (dakh.) Envy, anger.

جست وجو just-o-jū P (from جستن) s.f. Searching, seeking, search, inquiry, quest, scrutiny, investigation, examination.

جهلس دينا jhulas denā S̱. v. a. To sear, to singe.

جهنکهنا jhankhnā H v. n. See جهکنا jhaknā.

جهوکا jhokā H s. m. A blow, a contact, collision, a gust, blast, breeze or current (of wind).
