تجمل tajammul A (inf. v. of جمال) s. m. Dignity, pomp, parade, retinue, furniture, conveniences. (Plur. تجملات tajammulāt).

ترجمه tarjama A or tarjuma, s. m. Translation, interpretation. ترجمه کرنا tarjama karnā, To translate, to interpret. ترجمه نويس tarjuma- navīs, s. m. A translator. ترجمه هونا tarjama honā, To be interpreted or translated.

جاجم jājam H s. f. A cloth thrown over the car- pet to sit on. See جازم. S. جاچک याचक (r. याच Ask, beg) jāchak, s. m. Beggar, petitioner, solicitor, candidate, one who asks or solicits.

جم jam P n. prop. Name of an ancient king of Persia. See جمشيد jamshīd.

جم jam S (यम) s. m. The regent of worlds below; or death, and judge of departed souls. جم دوت यमदूत jam-dūt, Messenger of Jam or of death. جم ديا jam-diyā (यमदीप) s. m. A candle or illumination sacred to Jam, lighted on the 13th of kārtik, kr̤ishṇ paksh̤, i. e. three days before the dewālī.

جمائي jamāʼī जामाता S̱. s. m. A son-in-law.

جماد jamād A s. m. Whatever is incapable of growth, a stone, a fossil. Plur. جمادات jamā- dāt, Minerals, fossils.

جماعت jamāʼaﻌt A s. f. A crowd, an assembly, a troop, meeting, society, congregation.

جمال jamāl A s. m. Beauty, elegance.

جمال گوٿا jamālgoṭā H s. m. The name of a pur- gative nut. (Croton tiglium).

جمالي jamāl-ī A s. m. A kind of muskmelon (red-fleshed).

جمانا jamānā S̱. (causal of جمنا jamnā, r. यम Bind, restrain) v. a. 1. To collect. 2. To sum up. 3. To coagulate, to freeze or make ice, congeal, consolidate. 4. To pace in the manage.
