اسفل asfal A adj. compar. (of سافل) Inferiour, lower, the lowest, nether, nethermost. اسفل السافلین asfalu-s-sāfilīn, The lowest hell.

غفل g̠ẖafal A s. m. Carelesness, negligence, neglect, inattention, inadvertency, remissness. غفلت زده g̠ẖaflat-zada, Overcome with carelesness.

فلاح falāḥ A (from فلح Heb. and Chald. To cut, to plough, to blossom as a flower: Cant. 4, 3. to prosper) s. f. Prosperity, happiness, safety, refuge.

فلاخن falāḵẖun P s. f. A sling.

فليته falīta A. (corrupt. from فتيله) s. m. 1. Match, torch, wick, fusee. 2. A wick com- posed of paper inscribed with mystick words, by inhaling the smoke of which demons are said to be expelled from those possessed. 3. A cord of twisted thread sewed between the two folds of the hem of a garment to strengthen it. فليته دار falīta-dār, 1. A matchlock. 2. Any thing that has a match or wick. 3. Cloth hemmed with a cord (فليته falīta, q. v.).

فلک falak A (Heb. Any thing round) s. m. 1. The heavens, sky, firmament, sphere. 2. Fate, fortune. (Plur. افلاک aflāk). فلک زده falak-zada, Stricken of fate, poor, crazy, lu- natick. فلک کو خبر نـﮩوني کسيکي falak ko ḵẖa- bar na honī kisī ke (lit. A thing being unknown to oneʼs stars) implies great inattention and ig- norance. Mīr Aﻌbdullāh Tajarrud says:-- تجهـ رو مين لطف هي سو ملک کو خبر نـﮩين خورشيد کيا هي اسکي فلک کو خبر نـﮩين Tujh rū meṅ lut̤f hai so malak ko ḵẖabar nahīṅ; ḵẖụrshaid kyā hai? uske falak ko ḵẖabar nahīṅ, There is a charm in thy face unknown even to angels; (compared to it) what is the sun? It is unknown to his orbit or sphere. فلک الافلاک falaku-l-aflāk, The primum mobile, empyrean heaven. فلک سير falak-sair, Like the heavens in motion, rapid in motion. فلک نشان falak- nishān, Like the heavens, high or vast as the heavens.

فلکي falak-ī A. adj. Celestial, of the heavens, or of fortune.

فوفل faufal A or fūfal, s. The betel-nut.

مقفل muḳaffal A (part. pass. II. of قفل Chald. and Aram. ) adj. Locked.

کفل kafal A s. f. The buttocks (of a horse, &c.).
