بقم baḳam A s. f. Sappan wood. (Cœsalpinia sappan).

راقم rāḳim A part. act. (of رقم Heb. ) 1. Writing. 2. s. m. A writer. راقم الحروف rā- ḳimu-l-ḥurūf, The writer of these letters; i. e. of this epistle, of this book, &c.

رقم raḳam A (a. raḳm, from رقم Heb. To mark, to embroider) 1. s. f. A mark, sign, writing, hand-writing, character. 2. A mode of arith- metical notation, chiefly taken from the initials of the Arabic words denoting the numbers. 3. One character in the notation above described. 4. Arithmetick. 5. Manner, kind, method, sort, article (of goods). 6. A royal edict. 7. An embroidered ornamented garment. رقم کرنا ra- ḳam karnā, To mark down, to write. رقم هونا raḳam honā, To be written.

رقمي raḳam-ī A. adj. Written, marked.

سقمونيا saḳmūniyā G. s. m. Scammony. (Hippoc. and Diosc. skammwnia Dried juice exuding from the root of Convolvulus scammonea).

قاقم ḳāḳum A s. m. A fine kind of ermine.

قمار ḳimār A (from قمر) s. m. Dice, or any game of hazard. قمار باز ḳimār-bāz, A gambler. قمار بازي ḳimār-bāz-ī, s. f. Gaming. قماري ḳimār-ī, s. m. A gambler.

قماري ḳamārī A s. plur. (of قمري) Turtledoves.

قماش ḳumāsh A (vulg. ḳimāsh) s. m. 1. Breeding, manners. 2. Trifles. 3. Goods, furniture of every kind. 4. Close or thick texture (in cloth, paper, &c.), texture, any thing heaped or collected together. ¶ ḳimāsh, Name of a suit at cards: see under تاج tāj.

قمر ḳamar A s. m. The moon.

قمري ḳumrī A s. f. A turtledove. ¶ ḳamar-ī, adj. Belonging to the moon.

قمقمه ḳumḳuma A (from قمقم To collect, to hold, to be plunged in water) 1. A jug, a pitcher; (hence, in Hind.) a vessel in which the red mixture is contained with which they play at the holī. 2. A round shade or lantern.

قميص ḳamīṣ A s. m. A shirt. (Hence, Fr. Che- mise, It. Camicia, Port. Camisa, Hind. and Beng. kamij).

قمچي ḳamchī T s. f. 1. A horse-whip. 2. A bamboo twig.

لقمان luḳmān A n. prop. A famous eastern fa- bulist (supposed to be the same as Ӕsop).
