جنت jannat A s. f. The garden, paradise. جنت آشياني jannat-āshiyān-ī, Whose nest (abode) is paradise; the deceased or late (king, &c.). جنة البلاد jannatu-l-bilād, The garden of the region (an epithet of Bengal).

جيرا jīrā S̱. (जीर Pers. زيره) s. m. Cumin-seed.

جراه jurrāh P. s. m. See جرا jurrā.

جثه jus̤s̤a A s. m. The body, the figure of the human body. S. ججمان यजमान (r. यज Worship, make offerings) jajmān, s. m. A customer, a person to whose custom brāhmans, barbers, and some others, have a legal claim. (The hereditary brāhman, or barber, &c. of a village must be paid his fees, whether you choose to employ him or another person).

جهگڙالو jhagṛā-lū H m. adj. Quarrelsome, wrangling, disputatious, contentious; a brawler, an arguer.

جڙت jaṛit S̱. part. Set (with jewels, &c.), stud- ded. See جٿت jaṭit.

جاپ जाप jāp S (r. जप Recite to oneʼs self) s. m. Muttering of prayers, &c. See جپ jap. (A Hindū term).

جهڙاکها jhaṛākhā गवाक्ष S̱. s. m. A skylight.

جماهنا jamāhnā S̱. v. n. See جمـﮩ‍انا jamhānā.

جوتي juvati S or juvatī (युवति or युवती) s. f. A young woman, one from sixteen to thirty years of age.
