جکهني jakhanī यक्षिणी S̱. s. f. 1. Wife of a جکهـ jakh, q. v. 2. A sort of female fiend, at- tached to the service of Durgā, and frequently maintaining, like a sylph or fairy, an intercourse with mortals.

جگ jag S̱. s. m. 1. (for जगत्) The world, the universe. جگ ادهار jag-adhār (dakh.) God. جگبندهو jag-bandhū, Friend of the world. جگ پتي jag-patī (dakh.) A prince or king. جگ جگت jag-jagat, s. m. The universe. 2. (for यज्ञ) A feast, entertainment. 3. A sacrifice or religious ceremony, in which oblations are presented.

جبهڙا jabhṛā H s. m. The jaw.

جکڙنا jakaṛnā H v. a. To tighten, to draw tight (as a knot), to bind, to fasten, to tie, to pinion.

جنبي jamb-ī A. adj. Lateral. S. جنت जन्तु (जन Produce) jantu, s. m. An animal, a sentient being, creature.

جيسا jaisā यादृश S̱. adv. or adj. In the manner which, as, what-like, such as, according as. جيسا چاهئيي jaisā chāhiye, As may be desired, as it ought, sufficiently. جيسا تيسا jaisā taisā, As well as, so so. جيسا کا تيسا jaisā kā taisā, Such as in the original, the self same, unaltered. جيسا که jaisā ki, As though, as if.

جگاجوت jagājot जाग्रज्ज्योतिः S̱. s. f. Splen- dour, much light.

جسم jism A s. m. Body of any being. جسم جمادي jism-i-jamādī, Metallick body. جسم جوهري jism-i-jauharī, Constitutional parts. جسم حيواني jism-i-ḥaiwānī, Animal body. جسم نباتي jism-i-nabātī, Vegetable body.

جهنڐي jhunḍī H s. f. A bush, a tuft of grass.
