تال tāl S s. m. 1. (ताल) Beating time (in musick), musical time or measure, chime. 2. Slapping or clapping the hands together or against the arms, &c. 3. A musical instrument of bell-metal or brass (a sort of cymbal) played with a stick. 4. (ताड) The palm tree. (Borassus flabelliformis). 5. (तडाग) A pond. تال دينا tāl denā, To chime: to slap the hands on the arms before fighting. تال مارنا ياٿهوکنا tāl-mārnā or -ṭhoknā, To strike the hand against the arms preparatory to wrestling.

تپشن tapashshin तपस्विनी S̱. s. f. A female devotee.

توميا tūmiyā H s. m. Thread made of carded cot- ton, in opposition to that made of what has been beat only (called Ākrā rūʼī).

تسر tasar त्रसर S̱. s. m. A kind of coarse silk, the produce of a particular worm (Bombyx paphia) that feeds on the āsan (Terminalia alata tomentosa), &c.

تفحص tafaḥḥuṣ A (inf. v. of فحص) s. m. Investiga- tion, inquiry, search, disquisition.

تناخوري tanā-ḵẖor-ī P. s. (dakh.) 1. Solitariness, loneliness. 2. See دريغ dareg̠ẖ.

تطويل tat̤wīl A (inf. ii. of طول) s. f. Extending, lengthening, prolonging, prolongation, stretching out, prorogation.

تلسي तुलसी tulsī S s. f. A small shrub held in veneration by the Hindūs, holy basil (Ocymum sanctum). Tulsī or Tulasī was a nymph be- loved by Kr̤ish̤ṇa and by him metamorphosed into this plant. تلسي داس tulsī-dās, n. p. Name of a Gosāʼīṅ. تلسي دانه tulsī-dāna, A gold or- nament. تلسي کاهيرا tulsī kā hīra, Beads made of the wood of the tulsī plant.

تتار tatār S̱. (from تتارنا) s. f. Embrocation, pouring of warm water on a diseased part.
