تانت tānt S̱. s. f. 1. (तंत्री) Catgut, sinew, the string of a musical instrument. تانت باجي اورراگ بوجها tānt bājī aur rāg būjhā, He under- stood from the first word. تانت باندهنا tānt bāndhnā, To put to silence an idle talker. 2. (from तन्तु) A loom.

تهمب thamb S̱. (स्तंभ) s. m. A pillar, a post.

تپانا tapānā S̱. (तापन or caus. of تپنا) v. a. To heat, warm, make glow, make another person warm himself at the fire or in the sun.

توقف tawaḳḳuf A (inf. v. of وقف) s. m. Delay, pause, hesitation, cessation, tediousness; pa- tience. توقف کرنا tawaḳḳuf karnā, To pause, hesitate, wait, delay, dally.

تاتار tātār P s. m. A tartar.

تولا tolā तोल S̱. s. m. A denomination of weight, consisting of a number of māshas, which varies in different parts of India. تعطيل taﻌt̤īl A (inf. ii. of عطل) s. f. 1. Abandoning, neglecting. 2. Rendering useless. 3. Laying waste, vacation. (Friday is the تعطيل کا روز taﻌt̤īl kā roz of Muhammadan school boys).
