پانڐي panḍe S̱. (पंडित) s. m. A title of Brāhmans; a schoolmaster.

پچهتانا pachhtānā S̱. (पश्चात्तापन i. e. पश्चात् Behind, after, and तापन Burning, from r. तप Burn) v. n. To regret, repent, rue, grieve.

To back one) To support steadily. پشت پناه pusht-panāh, An ally, a supporter. پشت خم pusht-ḵẖam, adj. Hump- backed. پشت دست کسي پرمارناياپشت پامارنا pusht-i-dast kisī par mārnā or pusht-i-pā mārnā, To reject, to abandon. پشت دينا pusht denā (lit. To turn oneʼs back) To flee, run away, turn tail.

پتا patā H s. m. A sign, mark, symptom, hint, token, direction, address or place to which one is directed, label.

پٿنا paṭnā H 1. v. n. To be paid, to be procured. 2. To be watered. 3. To fill. 4. To be covered, to be roofed, to be piled, &c. intrans. of پاٿنا q. v. 5. s. m. Name of a city. (Sans. पट्टन).

پيٿهـ pīṭh पृष्ठ S̱. s. f. The back. پيٿهـ پرهاتهـ پهيرنا pīṭh par hāth phernā, To pat on the back, to encourage. پيٿهـ پهيرنا pīṭh phernā, To turn oneʼs back, to depart, to flee, to leave, to with- draw. پيٿهـ ٿهوکنا pīṭh ṭhoknā, To animate, en- courage. پيٿهـ دينا pīṭh denā, 1. To run away, to flee, to turn tail. 2. To turn, to shrink from, to veer. 3. To turn away in displeasure. پيٿهـ کي پيچهي پڙنا pīṭh ke pīchhe paṛnā, To take re- fuge or shelter. پيٿ کي پيچهي ڐال لينا pīṭh ke pīchhe ḍāl lenā, To protect, to defend. پيٿهـ لگانا pīṭh lagānā, To throw down in wrestling. پيٿهـ لگنا pīṭh lagnā, 1. To have a sore on the back (a horse). 2. To mount or to back a horse.
