پيت pīt S 1. adj. (पीत) Yellow. 2. s. f. or pīti (for प्रिति) Love, affection, kindness, friendship. پيت کي پيت رهي اورميت کاميت هاتهـ لگي pīt kī pīt rahe aur mīt kā mīt hāth lage, Let friendship continue and the sweets or benefits of it will be obtained.

پلنگڙي palang-ṛī पल्यंकी S̱. s. f. A small bed- stead.

پلٿاو palṭāʼo H (from پلٿنا) s. m. Contradiction, re- action, rebound. H.S̱. پلٿالينا palṭā lenā, v. a. To take back, to take in return, to take revenge. H.S̱. پلٿ لينا palaṭ lenā, v. a. To take back, to take in return, to take revenge.

پيک pīk H s. f. The juice of the betel leaf chew- ed and spit out. پيکدان pīk-dān, s. m. A vessel for holding betel spittle, a spitting-pot.

پگرانا pagurānā H v. n. To ruminate, to chew the cud.

پٿوهيا paṭohiyā H s. m. An owl.

پوڙهاٴي pauṛhā-ī प्रौढता S̱. s. f. 1. Strength, firmness. 2. Breadth.

پرسورام parsūrām परशुराम S̱. n. prop. The sixth Avatār, descent upon earth or incarna- tion of Vish̤ṇu. This personage was the son of Jamadagni. He is, from his father, called Jāmadagni: and, the deity descended in this form to destroy the Kshatriyas (or Chh̤atrīs) who were become tyrannical. Renukā, wife of Jamadagni, was interrupted in bringing water from the river by Kārtavīrjārjuna, a prince of the Kshatriyas, who was sporting in the water with his thousand wives; for which Parasu- rāmaʼs father, Jamadagni, cursed him. The Kshatriya prince killed Jamadagni; and Jāma- dagni vowed not to leave a Kshatriya on the face of the earth. He is reported to have ex- tirpated them twenty one times; the women with child each time producing a new race: and, they say that there have been no Ksha- triyas since; those so called being of spurious breed, or Varṇasankars.

پوني pūnī H s. f. Rolls of cotton prepared for spinning.

پڙپڙانا paṛpaṛānā H v. n. 1. To prattle, to chat- ter. 2. To throb with pain (as, the tongue from an acid substance).
