اعراب iﻌrāb A (inf. iv. of عرب) s. m. The no- tation of the vowel points, the vowel or diacri- tical points.

اسگنده asgandh S̱. or isgandh (अश्वगन्धा from अश्व Horse, and गन्ध Smell) s. m. Name of a plant used medicinally. (Physalis flexuosa. Pers. عروس درپرده).

القصه al-ḳiṣṣa A adv, In short, in a word. S. الک अलक (r. अल Adorn) alak, s. f. A ringlet or curl of hair. الکابلي alakābalī (अलकावली) s. f. A row of side curls. ¶ See الکهہ a-lakh.

افسون afsūn P s. m. Incantation, a spell, verses used in spells or enchantment, fascination, sor- cery. افسون سازي afsūn-sāz-ī, s. f. Enchant- ment. افسون کرنا afsūn karnā, To enchant, to use spells or incantations.

اچوک a-chūk H (अ and چوک Errour) adj. Un- erring, sure; (hence) a good marksman.

ابتوڙي ab-toṛī S̱. adv. Till now, hitherto, yet, as yet, still.

اکهڙنا ukhaṛnā S̱. (उत् and r. खड Divide, tear) v. n. To be rooted up, plucked up or raised up, to slip out (as a bone, &c.). اکهڙنا پکهڙنا ukhaṛna pukhaṛnā, To be plucked or rooted up.

اشٿ ششٿ अष्टषष्टि ash̤ṭa-sh̤āsh̤ṭi S adj. Six- ty-eight.

اڙبنگا aṛbangā H adj. Crooked, uneven.

استبرا istibrā A (inf. x. of برأ) s. m. 1. Cleansing, washing oneʼs hands of a business or desiring to be freed from it. 2. The waiting of a woman after being divorced from her husband, to as certain whether she is pregnant or not, before she can contract another marriage. (The term is three months, according to the Muhammadan law).
