پناه panāh P s. f. Shade, shelter; protection; asylum, refuge. پناه دينا panāh denā, To pro- tect, to harbour. پناه کسي سي مانگنا panāh kisī se māngnā, 1. To seek protection. 2. To avoid.

پٿکا paṭkā पट्टि S̱. s. m. A cloth worn round the waist, a girdle. زري پٿکا zarī paṭkā, The golden girdle (an ensign conferred by the Pesh- wā on generals who are invested with authority immediately by him). پٿکاباندهنا paṭkā bāndh- nā, To determine on, or prepare for any act. پٿکاپکڙنا paṭkā pakaṛnā, To hinder, to obstruct. H.S̱. پٿکاجانا paṭkā jānā (from پٿکنا) v. n. To fall from oneʼs rank or estimation.

پروا pariwā प्रतिपद् S̱. s. f. The first day of a lunar fortnight, the first of the moonʼs increase or wane.

پتيا pattiyā S̱. (dimin. of پتي pattī) s. m. A small leaf.

پهس پهساوٿ phusphusāwaṭ H (from پهسپهسانا) s. f. Whispering, buzzing in the ear.

پتيل patīl H adj. Thin, fine.

پي pai P s. m. 1. (Sans. पाद) The foot. پي آنا pai ānā, To have a splint (a horse). پي کرنا pai karnā, To plague, to seize, to be importunate. 2. A nerve, tendon, sinew. 3. adv. Behind, after, following, therefore, in pur- suit, by reason, on account. پي به پي pai-ba- pai, or پي درپي pai-dar-pai, adv. One after another, successively.

پرتپالنا pratipālnā S̱. (प्रतिपालन see پرتپال) v.a. To preserve, to keep, to cherish.

پـﮩلو pahlū P s. m. 1. The side. 2. The wing or flank of an army. پـﮩلوتـﮩ‍ي کرنا pahlū tihī karnā, To retire, retreat, withdraw, refuse, decline, evade. پـﮩلونشين pahlū-nishīn, adj. Sitting by the side; a companion.

پهسپهسا phasphasā H adj. Flabby, loose, not rigid.
