اکتساب iktisāb A (inf. viii. of کسب) s. m. Ac- quisition, gain.

ايذا īẕā A (inf. iv. of اذيت) s. f. Hurting, injuring, harm, pain, trouble, vexation, distress, affliction. ايذادينا īẕā denā, To injure, pain, trouble, vex, distress, afflict, hurt, offend. ايذادهندي īẕā- dihandī, s. f. Giving pain, tormenting.

اهليا अहल्या ahalyā S n. prop. 1. Wife of Gautama, q. v. 2 Name of an Apsarā.

ايمه aima A. s. m. (for aʼịmma, plur. of امام but used to denote) Land given as a reward or fa- vour by the king at a very low rent, a fief. (When no rent is paid, the land is called لااخراج lā ḵẖirāj). Charity lands. ايمه دار aima-dār, One who holds land in ايمه aima, a feoffee.

اگیا agiyā H s. m. Name of a bird. (Alauda aggia, Buch.). S. اگیات جوبنا अज्ञातयौवना (from अज्ञात Unknown, and यौवन Youth) agyāt-jaubanā or a-jnyāta-yauvanā, s. f. A girl arrived at maturity and surprised at the symptoms which then appear, not knowing to what to attribute her sensations.

اپرادهي apa-rādh-ī S (अपराधी) s. m. A criminal, sinner, offender, transgressor.

آش āsh P s. f. Meat, victuals, viands, soup, broth, gruel, pottage. آش پکانا āsh pakānā, v.a. To combine in any design, to conspire or contrive something against another. آش جو āsh-i-jau, Barley-water, watergruel.

اوسان ausān H s. m. 1. Sensation, sense. 2. Courage. 3. Presence of mind.

استمتاع istimtāﻌ A (inf. x. of متع) s. m. 1. En- joying, reaping the fruits of, being delighted; celebrating the solemnities of the festival of Mecca; enjoyment (of a woman).

آسرت ā-srit S आश्रित (आ and r. श्रि Serve) adj. One who relies on another, a refugee, a protegee.
